Che is dead

Early Monday morning came the message from Havana that we hoped would not come: Che Guevara is dead. It was Fidel Castro although in a radio speech to the Cuban people confirmed that the great revolutionary leader had fallen in battle against Bolivian forces – special forces trained in anti-guerrillas in the United States. This is not the first time a message has come out that Che had fallen, and for the longest time we hoped that this message would also be false. But then came the picture of the murdered in newspapers and television. For the CIA, this murder is a glorious victory. For the oppressed people of Latin America, it is an almost irreplaceable loss.
