[refugees] Syria closed 1. October's border crossings to Iraq. Syria, which has been accepting up to 2000 Iraqi refugees for a long time, accuses the international community of doing too little for Iraqi refugees. Around 1,2 millions of Iraqis who have fled to Syria live mainly in poor neighborhoods around the capital Damascus. One of the organizations that are now trying to get into Syria to help them is the Norwegian Refugee Aid. Secretary-General Thomas Colin-Archer does not believe the closure of the Iraq-Syria border will be permanent.
